About Doug Reynolds

As an attorney, I have a diverse practice focused primarily on Civil Litigation, Landlord and Tenant, Real Estate and Homeowners Associations, Construction, Contract, and Criminal Defense matters.  I have practiced in the Durango area for over 14 years; first as an associate with the law firm Goldman, Robbins & Nicholson and the law firm of Michael E. McLachlan.  From there, I partnered with Jesse Bopp at the Bopp Reynolds Law Group for five years, until the firm disbanded in 2017 and I formed my sole practice.  I have experience with a broad range of civil and criminal matters including jury trials and litigation in Colorado County and District Courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States Interior Board of Land Appeals and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

I am a Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area. I attended Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison right after high school, then earned a B.A. in History at the University of Colorado, Denver, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a focus on 20th Century Western American history.  I then attended Duke University Law School where I earned my J.D. in 2001.  While at Duke Law, I was selected for a student editor position on the prestigious Duke Law Journal.  I served as a teaching assistant in the legal research and writing programs while watching the Duke Blue Devils earn a National Championship in 2001.

Prior to moving to Durango, I spent 3 years working for the prestigious Denver law firm Brownstein, Hyatt & Farber, where my practice was focused on corporate transactions.  I moved to Durango to enjoy a more balanced personal and work life.  I love living in our small community in the mountains.  In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my twin middle school-aged daughters skiing, biking, hiking and camping in the San Juan Mountains. I also participate in triathlons cross the country, running and cycling races.

I am a former President of the Durango Daybreak Rotary Club and serve as Treasurer of the Durango area Rotary Clubs’ annual Red Ball Express Fundraiser event.
